March 2020

Mar02, Lipsitch
40-70% of the world's population will become infected , 1% of [them] could die

Mar04 , daily WHO presser, Tedros :
But at present, we see linked epidemics in several countries, where most
cases can still be traced to known contacts or clusters of cases, in, although we see
signs of community transmission in some countries.
Our view continues to be that containment of COVID-19 must be the top priority
for all countries, but at the same time, countries should be preparing for sustained
community transmission.
That’s why we’re suggesting a comprehensive approach.
With early, aggressive measures, countries can stop transmission and save lives.
# there was community transmission in China, they still got it down

The world's battle with coronavirus is now over,  the world 'tried very hard to stop this virus altogether'
but had failed. You can see from the statistics, the number of countries affected that that battle
is really over

the [UK-] coronavirus death toll is unlikely to exceed 20,000 and could be much lower,
[I am] “reasonably confident” that Britain’s health system can handle the burden of
treating coronavirus patients.
“There will be some areas that are extremely stressed, but we are reasonably
confident — which is all we can be at the current time — that at the national
level we will be within capacity,”

Mar26, Christopher J.L. Murray Professor, IHME Director, Chair, Department of Health Metrics Sciences
We estimate that there will be a total of 81,114 deaths (95% UI 38,242 to 162,106)
from COVID-19 over the next 4 months in the US.
